Organic Rant
Like most things in this late stage capitalist utopian clusterfuck, organic growing has become yet another middle-man’s wet dream! It’s another example where, doing the right thing full of common sense, a modicum of knowledge about the natural world and something that has roots back into humanity for literal millennia, has been rendered a practice that needs controlling and something you, as a human being on the planet doing things nicely, needs to PROVE to an inspectorate, that you do nice things nicely and you can’t use certain language around the nice thing until you have been signed off as legitimately doing the nice thing according to a handbook of regulations typed out in legal speak.
It irks me that organic growers.. oops.. let me re-phrase that to; people who grow using organic principles, for fear of litigation (eye-roll), can’t refer to themselves as “organic grower”, unless they’ve been through the tight regulation process, get regularly inspected and pay the mans a huge lump sum every year to prove they’re nice!
I get WHY it has to be that way, since generations of the ruling class have allowed and encouraged blatant use of every chemical stumbled across in a lab to be sold as some sort of treatment on crops, bleeding down into ornamental horticulture to rinse the maximum profit out of a product, our grandparents literally freely dosing themselves with ALL the neurological conditions and raising their kids to be so plastic-bottle-reliant for their garden/growing/farming practice that they’ve forgotten how to leave things-the-fuck-alone. Hence why most of the land is FUCKED, drenched in a cocktail of a thousand different noxious compounds… It pisses me off though that “the system” has been so removed from natural growing and is so driven by greed and profit, that organic products now sell for such a premium price growers just aren’t trusted to not lie about their practices. Legislation of any kind is an organisation basically just telling a population that; “we don’t trust you to do things the right way, because we live in a system that encourages deceit to make money, so you can pay us a fee to allow you to put “organic” on your labels and website…” (in this instance).
Imagine a world where the default position was the nice thing. That it was just presumed everything was organic, because the only fuckers who had to pay were the cunts who spray everything to fuck to maximise their profit margins! You pay a premium price in the shops to buy chemical food/plants, you have to label all your products and have on your website; “NON-ORGANIC” ..
So, basically what I’m saying is, although I have always grown and gardened this nursery using organic principles, I’m not going to register with and PAY a fucking middle-man organisation just so that I can use the word “Organic” on my website and social media! You’ll just have to actually engage your human capacity to trust another human not to fuck you over on that promise.. imagine!
