Plectranthus purpuratus 9cm

€5.00

Another excellent conservatory/outdoor summer pot display plant. Beautiful and textureful leaves, deeply veined and in dark green with deep purple backs. Will grow as a branching, sprawling thing up to half a metre or so if allowed the space, but typically lower when grown in pots. Flowers are loose spikes of pale lilac.

Prefers being grown in partial shade, but this is Ireland and I’ve grown it in full sun without too much detriment, but yes, a good one for a shadier parts of your patio or sun-room. Prefers open, well drained soils. Over winter on the dry side and protect from the very lowest winter temps. Do not lose hope if plant drops all leaf and looks dead, cut back stems in spring and begin watering lightly and give it a chance, it will more than likely break again from the stock.
