The pink/lilac fluffy spiky things in this picture. Relatively short-lived perennial native to the prairies of North America. They’re cool pops of colour and add a bit of texture too. Grass-like leaves rocket forth into these “Kansas Gay Feathers” from mid summer, reaching up to a meter or so.
Bone hardy, but will need to be in well drained or open soils in full sun to do that.
