One of my favourite things! Ephedra are gnetophytes, a truly ancient relic of plant families of which there are only three, Welwitschias and Gnetum, being the other two. So, it has cool kudos from me for just, still being here, stubborn in its weirdness.
This has been growing here in Lismore for many years, in a nice gravelly spot, in full sun, nothing particularly special given it, not watered, or covered in winter or pruned or fed and she remains. Healthy and alive and giving her sea-godess vibes.

A scrubby sub-shrubby thing, up to maybe a meter. Does this, sometimes has some golden yellow ball’y shenanigans going on.
