Another seemingly rare plant in cultivation. Also called “santonica”, referring to the compound santonin of which the plant is rich in, a powerful treatment for intestinal worm infestations. Other names include, “Levant Wormsee”, again referring to its capacity as a worming dose, but also notes the location it naturally occurs.
Fantastic, fine, downy silver foliage, drought tolerant, but not as tolerant as others, perks up very quickly once given a small drink though. Would be wonderful as part of pot displays, or equally through front borders weaving highlights through other things.
Anyway, again, I don’t know how this kid will behave in the winter. Looking at its natural range and the look of the plant, it will cope with winter cold, but on very free draining substrates and probably enjoys lots of air, not endless grey humid rubbish we tend to get here. So I advise keeping under-cover, on the dry side. cut back or clear stems of dead foliage coming into winter to prevent botrytis, it has the look of something it would love!
